Ghanacraft is a website of La Difference Ltd., a company registered in Ghana under reference No. CA-4882 and in France, SIRET: 498 558 097 00016. The founder and director, Tracy Debus, is a Franco-Nigerian. An enthusiast of handicrafts and decorative arts, she got into contact with talented craftsmen and artists as soon as she settled in Ghana in 2002. Witnessing their difficulties to ensure a meaningful livelihood, she planned to launch a business activity aiming at promoting Ghanaian arts & crafts on the international market. This is how Ghanacraft site started on the web in June 2006. Ghanacraft maintains a fair trade relation with craftsmen and artists, assists them as needed and commits to deliver high quality services to its customers as per the following charter:

Contributing to sustainable development in Ghana
Opting to invest in a business in arts & crafts was not due to chance. The role that the craft sector can play for sustainable development in Africa is substantial. This demands that private investors promote the Ghanaian know-how on the international market. This is necessary to enable craftsmen gain correct income from their activity in order to perpetuate it, maintain a production of quality and transfer their talent to future generations.

A commitment to quality
Working with talented craftsmen using traditional techniques. All our objects are handmade and meticulously produced. An Akan stool of the kind that we sell requires 15 days of work. Weaving a kente cloth king size requires 30 days.

Selling high quality handicrafts at affordable prices
Ghanacraft buys at high prices directly from selected craftsmen and artists. We do not discuss the prices that they ask, but we demand an excellent quality of work. Our selling prices are very competitive owing to our policy of low profit margin

A privileged relation with craftsmen and artists
Our relations with craftsmen and artists are friendly. We often meet and we are responsive to their problems. We pay regular visits to the workshops so as to get acquainted with their work and ensure qualitative monitoring to satisfy our customers.

Satisfying creative customers
You may appreciate our objects but will prefer different colors, sizes or even designs than the ones found in our catalog. Any suggestion is welcome and we are obliged to directly discuss a special request with you.

Transferring a part of our profits to craftsmen and artists facing difficulties
At the end of each fiscal year, we will transfer a part of our profit to help improve work conditions or for personal support to those who may face a difficult situation. This may be for children education, medical expenses or any other priority expressed by them. This contribution will represent at a minimum 2% of annual profit margin.
